Reşadiye
peninsula and the surroundings of Hoppala Pension
and Ovabuekue offer a lot of attractive
and interesting destinations for shorter or longer
trips. First of all there is Datça, the centre of
the peninsula, a small and friendly town, which is
quite different to the other tourist places at the
Turkish Mediterranean coast. A paradise for a sailors
and divers and also a starting point for visits (by
ferry boat) to Simi, the greek island or to Bodrum.
Datça provides the main regional shopping facilities,
especially on Saturdays, when the traditional market
opens. From agricultural products to clothing, shoes
and houseware, everything you need (or you need not
really) can be bought there.
Probably the most impressive place and a must to go
is Knidos the ancient city at the top of the peninsula.
The artifacts at the archeological site tell the story
of the great ancient human cultures of the Aegean
world. At least Knidos as well shows the visitor the
attractions of the wild and fascinating landscape
at the edge of the Aegean coast and the open Mediterranean
Sea.
Close to Ovabuekue there are also other beautiful
places, that can be visited much better by strolling,
than by taking the car. For example Palamutbüki
or Haitbuekue, the neighbour bay, which is a "secret
tip" among sailors.
To get to Ovabuekue you have to take the raod from
Datça to Knidos/Palamutbuekue for about 7 kilometers.
Then you have to turn left on a smaller (asphalt)
road to Mesudiye and to go on for another 7 kilometers,
before, close to the sea turning right to Ovabuekue.
In Ovabuekue the way to Hoppala Pension (or beach
restaurant) is guided by information signs.
